Armed masked men target Melbourne teen

A teenager in Melbourne has been targeted by two masked men with machetes after arranging to meet up with them online to sell a bike he had posted on social media.

The 16-year-old boy allegedly agreed to meet a man at a park in the suburb of Springvale South on August 8th to sell the bike.

The boy then got out of his dad's ute to make the sale, as two men wearing black hoods and armed with a large machete approached the vehicle and tried to steal the bike.

The two men were scared away after the boy's father got out of the car to approach them, leaving them empty handed.

Luckily, no one was injured during the attack.

Police have released video footage of the incident as they try to track down the masked males.

The assailants are believed to be in their teens, approximately 170cm tall and were wearing full face coverings and non-distinctive clothing.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam/CCTV footage or information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
