Mother dives onto train tracks to save baby in pram
Terrifying CCTV footage has emerged of a distraught mother in NSW diving onto railway tracks to recuse her baby in a pram, that’s rolled directly in the path of a train.
The video, which you can see below, was released by the NSW Government to draw attention to the large number of avoidable accidents which occurred during 2016.
The footage shows a mother distracted by her son who has become stuck in the elevator. When she goes to rescue him, she loses control of the pram which rolls onto the tracks.
The woman instinctively jumps down to save the baby, without even looking. Goodness knows what would’ve happened if there was a train arriving at the station.
NSW Transport Minister Andrew Constance said this is a warning that passengers need to be more careful when catching public transport.
“What we’re doing today is releasing CCTV footage that will horrify the community. It just demonstrates how quickly things can go wrong,” he said.
“If you have young children please hold their hands in and around transport networks … don’t spend all your time on your mobile phone – be conscious of what’s around you.”
