Why Studio 10 host Sarah Harris is not going to Today

Australia’s breakfast TV landscape has certainly had a shake-up in recent months, with Lisa Wilkinson announcing she’s leaving the Today show for The Project, and multiple stars being tipped to take her former seat next to Karl Stefanovic.

But one of the rumoured replacements, Studio 10’s Sarah Harris, who previously worked for Nine in 2007 as a reporter for Today – and even served as a fill-in host on Weekend Today – has shut down speculation she’s defecting to Channel Nine.

“It’s very flattering but it would never happen,” the 36-year-old told Confidential

“I’m loving life at Ten, there is a lot to love and people talk a lot about work-life balance and I feel like I’ve finally struck it. It’s a nice place to be.”

As for Ten’s newest recruit, Harris says the team couldn’t be happier.

“There’s a really great vibe around Channel 10 at the moment, we’re super excited to have a broadcaster like Lisa Wilkinson on board. There’s a real buzz around here again," she revealed.

“A rising tide lifts all boats. It goes to show that Ten is serious about local content and local issues to bring in someone of the calibre of Lisa Wilkinson who I have been a massive fan of for a number of years, particularly having worked with her and seen how she operates."

Currently expecting her second baby, Harris plans to return from maternity leave in March 2018, when she will begin filming season four of Shark Tank.
