Why 60 Minutes boss has “shelved Karl’s stories”

It looks like not everyone at Channel Nine is willing to forgive golden boy Karl Stefanovic’s leaked Uber rant, which saw the star attack colleagues, bosses and shows.

Although the network publicly denied fallout from the phone call, insiders say the host’s confessions are still rubbing people the wrong way.

Stefanovic has personally apologised to staff – including those on the 60 Minutes team. In his conversation with his brother Peter, Stefanovic slammed Nine’s flagship current affairs saying it has “lost relevance and lost viewers” before claiming Nine bosses “didn’t know anything and ... are out of touch”.

But 60 Minutes boss Kirsty Thomson is still furious at Stefanovic and has shelved several of Stefanovic’s interviews produced for the show, The Daily Telegraph reports.

A source told the newspaper that the executive producer would like to Stefanovic from the program entirely but the host’s contract prevents this.

“Kirsty is not happy. She really feels thrown under the bus by Karl,” the insider told The Daily Telegraph.

“She doesn’t want him to be part of her show.”
