Two Today Show hosts test positive for Covid-19

Two hosts of The Today Show have tested positive for Covid-19.

Ally Langdon and Brooke Boney both returned a positive result for the virus, as well as "half the behind the scenes people" at Today.

Karl Stefanovic confirmed the news on air with stand in co-host Sarah Abo, saying both women were in isolation.

"Sarah is in for Ally after testing positive for COVID-19," Karl said this morning.

"Brooke has also come down with COVID-19. Both are in isolation and we will see them some time next week."

Karl went on to joke that he had managed to avoid the virus due to his overall health and fitness.

"Interestingly, those of us who are elite athletes... are fine," he said with a smile.

Karl and the rest of his immediate family suffered the effects of Covid over the Christmas break and into January, with his daughters Ava and Harper coming down with it first, and he and Jasmine shortly after.

"We were most worried about little Harper," Karl said at the time.

"She is only 18 months old and also my daughter Ava - they had it in a quite severe way initially but then they got over it really quickly, and then Jaz and I both got it and I was much worse."

Karl said while he was physically unwell for three or four days, it is the psychological impact that hits you the hardest.

"It started out and it feels like a bad cold, and it starts in the throat, then it goes to the lungs," he said.

"I'm clear now, but the residual effects of it are there.

"It keeps on going on and on - dealing with it psychologically is the hardest thing I reckon."
