Sarah Harris opens up about fears for second pregnancy

After her first baby came early at 4.23kg, Sarah Harris is feeling apprehensive about giving birth again.

The Studio 10 host is due with her second child in December and like many mothers, she’s noticed quite a few things are different the second time around.

During a chat with Kidspot’s podcast The Juggling Act, Harris candidly revealed her “pelvic floor has just gone”.

"I’m like ‘just get me a towel get me a towel!’” she exclaimed.

“He [my husband] was being really funny. He ordered Indian and he didn’t get his rice and he was really pissed off about the rice not arriving and I just all of a sudden started hysterically laughing,” she explained.

“Then I went ‘I’m going to wet my pants, I’m going to wet my pants’ there in the kitchen and he just looked at me with his naan bread, horrified, and I’m like ‘just get me a towel get me a towel!’” she said.

A huge thank you to @newscomauhq and @dailytelegraph for your generous support of a cause very dear to my heart, The Smith Family. Paul ADORES books... And research tells us that literacy foundations built through reading to children from an early age is crucial to achieving higher levels of education, greater employability, higher earnings and greater social participation. Yet, worryingly, the reading gap in primary school between the lowest socio-economic students (SES) and the highest SES is equivalent to almost THREE YEARS of schooling. The Smith Family is working to bridge that gap by providing educational support - like the student2student reading program - to some of our most disadvantaged Australian kids. “He’s like ‘are you serious? Is this seriously happening? My rice doesn’t arrive, my bloody wife’s wetting herself?’” Sarah explained in a fit of laughter.

The TV host also admitted that she’s feeling nervous about her second birth.

With her son Paul arriving two weeks early, the TV host said: “I think I’m slightly more nervous because I’ve been through it before I know there are risks now.”

“I guess I just put my head in the sand a little bit last time, we went and took a birthing class and didn’t pay that much attention, we actually only went to the first day of two days birthing class,” she added.

“I didn’t have a birthing plan, I was like just give me the drugs, I was pretty chilled about it all because the doctors in charge and you can’t fear what you don’t know.”

Harris is due with her second child, another boy, in December.
