"He's very hurt": Richard Wilkins the most wounded by Karl Stefanovic's phone rant

For the last week, the media has been abuzz with reports of a damning private conversation between Channel Nine brothers Karl and Peter Stefanovic, the details of which were then sold to the media by an Uber driver who has been secretly eavesdropping.

But despite their public apologies, and regardless of the moral implications of the driver leaking his passenger’s private chat, there’s no denying many people have been hurt by what was reportedly said.

The driver told New Idea that Karl accused his Today co-star Georgie Gardner of “sitting on the fence,” saying she needed to “step up” if she “wanted to stay on the show”.

“It could have been worse for Georgie,” one Today show insider told the Daily Telegraph, explaining the 46-year-old had “retreated to her office” to avoid the topic.

Surprisingly, the one person who seems to be hurt the most by the scandal is none other than entertainment reporter Richard Wilkins. According to the driver, Karl (one of Wilkins’ closest friends) accused the veteran media personality of holding a monopoly, saying he “kept all the entertainment contacts close to his chest”.

The Daily Tele reports the “notoriously sensitive” Wilkins was deeply hurt by the comments and was “noticeably subdued” during yesterday morning’s program.

Tell us in the comments below, have you noticed any tension on the Today show?
