“Never told anyone this:” Lisa Wilkinson’s Today show secret admission
Lisa Wilkinson has made a stunning admission about a time when she was on the Today show with her co-host Karl Stefanovic.
Karl had been known for his hilarious, controversial and downright insane antics alongside Lisa on their beloved morning breakfast show, however it seems Lisa may have had one of the most hilarious gaffes while on-air and somehow it was never noticed.
While on the red carpet during the Gold Logies on Sunday night, Wilkinson admitted to news.com.au that she had once fallen asleep on air.
The brutal hours of waking up early in the mornings had proven to get to her while she was on Nine’s breakfast program along Stefanovic before leaving in 2017.
“I’ve never told anyone this,” she explained.
“There was one morning, Karl was in the middle of an interview, and I was off-camera and I was just sitting there, and I thought ‘if I don’t close my eyes for 10 seconds, I’m going to be in real trouble here’.
“So I put my head down and tried to make it look like I was reading scripts on the computer, and then I felt myself go … and I jerked myself awake. So, yup, I have fallen asleep on air.”
Lisa wasn’t the only one to let it all out on the Logie red carpet – as her Project co-hosts had their own stories to tell.
Peter Helliar revealed a secret about his fellow host and Gold Logie nominee Waleed Aly for embarrassingly missing the start of their Channel 10 program earlier this month.
“Waleed actually missed the start of the show a few weeks ago. We went to air, and he wasn’t on,” Helliar explained to news.com.au, adding Aly had been in the bathroom.
“He didn’t have his watch on, so he just completely mistimed it.”
Waleed later confirmed the story, making the story even more hilarious with the juicy details.
“We’d finished rehearsal and I’d left my phone on set, so I didn’t have the time. I walked out, and the show had started and I had no idea. I’m just strolling up, and the security guy goes ‘I can’t believe how relaxed you are’ and I thought, ‘that’s a weird thing to say’.
“And I said to the makeup woman, ‘How long we got?’ And she said, ‘Are you serious? The show’s started!’”
