Is Samantha Armytage swapping Sunrise for politics?

She’s been forced to work five days on Sunrise, but there is speculation that Samantha Armytage may say goodbye to the breakfast show soon.

Speaking to Woman’s Day a close insider reveals the bride-to-be is venturing into a new career - in politics.

"Sam is making all the right moves for a shift into politics," dishes the insider.

"She's particularly passionate about the bush, and a natural progression for her now would be a move into local council as a member and take the steady climb up the ladder – maybe all the way to Canberra!"

They claim Sam’s on-air rants to politicians have garnered plenty of attention.

"It's almost testing the waters to see what she can get away with and who will follow her," they say.

"She's stood up to pollies for years, questioning their actions," adds the insider, who notes she took on former Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce last year over help for farmers and recently grilled Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk about her strict border restrictions.

"It's becoming clear Sam has what it takes," the source continues.

"She loves her local Southern Highlands community and would do anything to help the locals," says our source, adding that Sam could run for MP near where she and fiance Richard Lavender, 60, share a home.
