House of Cards season 5 trailer has just been released

Netflix’s hit political drama House of Cards has released its official trailer for its fifth season – and boy, does it looks like we’re in for a ride.

The Underwoods faced one near miss after another in season 4 and the finale ended on a nail-biting cliffhanger, with Frank (Kevin Spacey) and Carrie Underwood (Robin Wright) watching the live execution of the hostage they had worked tirelessly to save.

Season 5 shows President Frank Underwood hungrier for power than ever and will see him entering the next election against Republican nominee and rival Governor Will Conway (Joel Kinnaman) – with a few tricks up his sleeve, of course.

It looks like real life may have influenced the political machinations of the show, with Frank telling his wife: “The American people don’t know what’s best for them. I do. I know exactly what they need.”

“They’re like little children, Claire. We have to hold their sticky fingers and wipe their filthy mouths. Teach them right from wrong. Tell what to think and how to feel and what to want. They even need help writing their wildest dreams. Crafting their worst fears. Lucky for them, they have me. They have you.”

The new season is set to premiere on Netflix on May 30.
