Edwina Bartholomew's exciting announcement on Sunrise: "I'm having a baby!"

Sunrise newsreader Edwina Bartholomew has announced on Sunrise that she is expecting her first child with her husband Neil Varcoe.

She shared the happy news with her colleagues, explaining that “we’re having a baby, due in December”.

Edwina also joked that her mother has been eagerly awaiting to tell everyone about the good news.

“We're super stoked and our family is really excited. Mum has been bursting at the seams to tell everyone – so mum, you can tell everyone!”

She also explained that her Sunrise co-host Samantha Armytage and reporter Natalie Barr had already guessed due to her odd cravings.

“Sam knew early on and Nat guessed because I kept eating a lot of dried toast at three in the morning!” Edwina joked.

She shared the news with her Instagram followers, with the clever caption:

“What initially presented as an over consumption of croissants, has turned out to be something a little more permanent #itsababy”

In the post is the Sunrise segment where Edwina announced the news.

In the clip, co-host David Koch is visibly excited and gives Edwina a big hug.

“How exciting! I love a baby!” shouted David.

Edwina and her husband first met as colleagues at radio station 2GB and were together for six years before Neil proposed in 2017. The pair were married on April 21, 2018 at their restored farmhouse in Lithgow, NSW.
