Chloe Lattanzi shares mum Olivia Newton-John’s comment on Dancing With The Stars appearance

The daughter of Grease icon Olivia Newton-John is ready to claim her own title as a dance star.

After she was announced as a contestant for the upcoming season of Dancing With The Stars, Chloe Lattanzi shared that her mother was “excited” about her appearance on the reality show.

“Oh, she’s so excited!” Lattanzi told 10daily. “She’s like, ‘this is a perfect show for you, Chloe!’ because I love to dance. It’s one of my biggest loves and to getting to do this with professional dancers and wearing all these amazing costumes and donating prize money to the charity of your choice, that’s just amazing.”

In an interview with Stellar, the 34-year-old dancer and singer revealed that she sought out the spot on the program because she wanted to establish an identity of her own.

“It feels really good to be able to be my own person – to be Chloe Lattanzi and not Olivia Newton-John’s daughter,” she said. “I’m my mum’s biggest fan, but she’s ready for me to be me, too.”

She also wanted to rise beyond her struggles with anorexia, depression and body dysmorphia. “I want people to see me for who I am, not an illness I overcame,” she said.

“People forget that I’m a legitimate singer and musician because my depression and anxiety have overshadowed that part of me.”

Nevertheless, she hoped her time on the dance competition will help others who are going through the same issues.

“I’d like to use my platform to raise awareness about mental health and ways to cope,” she told 10daily. “I’m not in those places mentally anymore but I would talk about it [on the show] to help other people.”

Speaking to HollywoodLife, Newton-John said the opportunity was “a dream” for her daughter.

When asked if she had any advice for Lattanzi ahead of the contest, Newton-John replied, “I just said, ‘Be yourself and have fun’.”

Lattanzi is the only daughter of Newton-John and actor Matt Latanzi.
