The incredible thing that happened when this photo was sent to the wrong number

A text message of a woman in a dress sent to the wrong number has led to a sequence of unbelievable events that has ended in the most heartwarming way.

When a woman named Syd snapped a picture of herself in a dress she was trying on and accidentally sent it to the wrong number, she never expected a reply.

But the recipient of the text message, Tony Wood, a real estate agent and father of six from Tennessee, USA, decided to have some fun and got his children to deliver their verdict on the dress.

“I believe this message was intended for someone else,” he wrote back to Syd.

“My wife isn’t home, so I couldn’t get her opinion, but the kids and I think you look stunning in your dress! You should definitely go with that one!”

The message was accompanied by a photo of his children giving Syd’s look two thumbs up.

A friend of Syd’s, Mandi, posted the exchange on Twitter and it quickly went viral, garnering hundreds of supportive comments.

But the story doesn’t end there. The viral tweet brought attention to Tony’s family’s Facebook page, and the sad reason why his four-year-old son Kaizler wasn’t in the original picture.

When the original photo was taken, Kaizler was in hospital with his mum, undergoing chemotherapy to treat his leukaemia.

People immediately jumped onto the GoFundMe page set up over two years ago to help the Wood family fund the boy’s treatment.

The fundraiser has so far raised $31,500 for the family and is still climbing, far surpassing its original goal of $10,000.

“I think the internet is going to make sure you guys can focus on what matters! Hope he recovers quickly and fully,” wrote one donor.

“Proof that a little act of kindness can reap bigger acts of kindness,” wrote another.

On Sunday night, Tony posted on Twitter to say  said “the kindness and generosity of Twitter and other venues saw our gofundme account surpass our goal last night!”

He told Bored Panda: “It’s been amazing and is a bigger blessing than anyone could ever know. We were backed up to a financial wall. I’ve been working the entire time, but I was slowly but surely succumbing to the financial rigours of the situation.”

Tony’s wife Rachel also told the website she has been overwhelmed by the reaction.

“It is so refreshing to be reminded that there are good people in the world who still care about others and are quick to be generous and kind to others,” she told Bored Panda.

“I would also like to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for all the kind words, all the prayers, all the donations, all the love and support.”
