Hugh Jackman shares touching tribute to wife Deborra-Lee on 22nd wedding anniversary
Yesterday, Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary together.
The 49-year-old Aussie star did not let the milestone pass without declaring his love for his wife “a gazillion times around the world” on social media.
The showbiz couple received a wave of congratulatory messages from friends and fans beneath his heart-filled tribute.
“I believe in life we need to see and truly be seen by the most important people in our lives. Deb, from day one, we had that. 22 years later ... it only gets deeper,” Jackman wrote.
“You and the kids are the greatest gift I will ever receive. I love you a gazillion times around the world.”
The pair first met in 1995 on the set of the ABC drama Correlli.
After the couple tied the knot 22 years ago, they went on to adopt two children, son Oscar and daughter Ava.
In a recent interview, Jackman confessed the reason why he and Deborra-Lee were as in love as ever after more than two decades together.
“You've got to find the right person. It's powerful, but simple,” he told Closer Weekly.
“When you're dating, you put on the best version of yourself. On the dance floor, you're like, I'm pulling out my best moves, I've got my best clothes on,” he told the publication.
The X-Men and Wolverine star has long spoken about the key role his wife has played in his successful career.
“She's the greatest thing that ever happened to me and it gets better and better,” he said on the Ellen DeGeneres Show.
The couple’s wedding anniversary follows Jackman’s recent success with the circus-based musical The Greatest Showman. The film was an international hit, grossing $420 million worldwide.
Jackman’s next role will be as the disgraced US politician Gary Hart, whose presidential campaign collapsed after his scandalous love affair in 1988. The movie will co-star Vera Farmiga and J.K. Simmons.
