How to make group video calls on Facebook Messenger

If you’ve ever wanted to do a video call with more than one other person (without paying extra for the pleasure) you can now thanks to Facebook messenger. You can use it on all smartphones, and it’s totally free.

At the moment you can see up to six people at once on the screen, so it’s ideal to do a family call for a special occasion, or get a group of friends together to plan a trip or just catch up.

Want to add more people? No problem, up to 50 people can get involved as listeners, opting in to get on screen as needed.

You can even have people pop in and out as needed, making it really flexible to chat to people in different time zones.

To get started, just make sure you have the latest version of Messenger. Either start a new message to the group you want to chat to, or go into a group that already exists.

Once you’re in there, hit the button in the top right corner of the screen that looks like a camera and this will let everyone else in the group know that the video chat is happening.

You can add people to the group later, even after you have started the video chat.

The system is fairly self-explanatory so why not just jump on and give it a go?
