The Voice: Delta Goodrem breaks down in tears over agonising decision

Three out of four coaches were reduced to tears after an emotional performance on The Voice Australia.

New Zealand trio The Koi Boys took to the stage to perform a rendition of The Beatles song, Let It Be for “The Battles” round.

The song was a dedication for those who lost their lives in the tragic Christchurch shooting in March, when a terrorist killed 51 Muslims and injured a further 49 at their place of worship.

Delta Goodrem broke down as she watched the contestants compete to remain on “Team Delta” and move on to the next round of the competition.

After the moving tribute, Kelly Rowland was left speechless, and Guy Sebastian held back tears as he praised the singers.

“As you were about to sing, I could hear you guys sobbing, and then you’ve got to try and sing which is why … it’s why we sing, because it’s still a wonderful world,” said Sebastian.

But the hard part was making a decision, one that was left on Goodrem to make as she was forced to choose who progressed to the next round.

“I just feel very strange about this moment because it’s very beyond a competition,” she said. “Sorry, I’m just trying to find my words.”

The Born to Try singer then walked off the set and headed backstage where she told the producers through tears, “I just feel really unwell … I just don’t want to upset any of them.”

After composing herself, Goodrem returned to the stage and announced, “I’m gonna go with the person I believe needs me more right now, I’m gonna go with Daniel.”

But The Koi Boys weren’t left disappointed, as the singer asked them to be her support act for a soon-to-be announced tour happening later in the year.
