Olivia Newton-John shares heartbreaking family news
Olivia Newton-John has announced that her brother, Hugh Newton-John, has passed away.
The 70-year-old singer and actor took to Twitter and Instagram to share the sad news two weeks after her sibling’s death.
“My dear, sweet, gentle, clever, brother Hugh passed away May 7, 2019, in Melbourne, Australia after many years of decline,” she wrote. “I love him so and will miss him terribly.”
Also included in the Instagram post was a statement from Hugh’s colleagues from the medical community, who described the late physician as “a well-respected infectious diseases clinician” as well as “an innovator, an astute clinician and a wonderful teacher and mentor”.
The colleagues wrote: “Recent years have not been kind to Hugh, but although he is now at peace, his memory and legacy will live on among those who worked and trained with him and the many patients who benefited from his fabulous care.”
In 2013, Olivia and Hugh’s sister Rona Newton-John passed away from cancer.
