Olivia Newton-John fires back at “false” reports about her health

After concerning reports surfaced about Olivia Newton-John’s health, the musician and actress hit back at rumours claiming that they’re false information.

Concerns regarding Newton-John’s health surfaced when she cancelled two upcoming speaking appearances less than a month after the official announcement. The shows, which were due to be held in Sydney and Melbourne, were to be hosted by Channel Nine personality, Ray Martin.

Previously, Newton-John has been diagnosed with breast cancer twice but a statement from her publicist Michael Caprio says that the singer was forced to cancel her tours due to scheduling conflicts.

“Olivia Newton-John’s two upcoming speaking performances in Australia were cancelled due to scheduling conflicts with her upcoming promotional tour for her new book Don’t Stop Believin’ and the ONJ Cancer Wellness & Research Run – not illness as falsely reported,” the statement read.

He went on to say that Newton-John “is looking forward to walking with everyone at Wellness Walk on September 16th in Melbourne.”

Speaking about her breast cancer journey, Newton-John told 60 Minutes’ Karl Stefanovic that she was determined to beat the disease, all while raising further awareness and funds for her cancer research centre in Melbourne.

“I want to help other people with cancer,” she said. “I want to help my hospital raise lots of money so that we can make cancer a thing of the past. And I’m sure this is part of my journey… it gives me more impetus to do more about it.”

Last week, Newtown-John celebrated the 40th anniversary of her hit film Grease with co-star John Travolta in Los Angeles.
