5 actors you didn’t know recorded albums

A couple of years ago, we were stunned to learn that some of our favourite actors – Steve Martin, Russell Crowe, Bruce Willis to name a few! – had secret (and successful) music careers on the side.

But it turns out they aren’t the only ones.

From Hollywood icon Clint Eastwood to Wonder Woman herself, Lynda Carter, we’re taking a look at five more stars we completely forgot tried their hands at a music career.

1. Patty Duke

Not only was she one of the youngest Oscar winners in history and a TV legend, but the late, great Patty Duke also had an impressive set of pipes. She released six albums between 1965 and 1968 and had two top 40 hits with “Don’t Just Stand There” and “Say Something Funny”.

2. Clint Eastwood

Before he hit the big time in silver screen favourites like The Good, the Bad and the Ugly and Dirty Harry, 87-year-old Eastwood was the star of popular TV western Rawhide. In 1962, he released the album Rawhide's Clint Eastwood Sings Cowboy Favourites, and has released three albums since. Eastwood is also a prolific composer, writing the scores for seven films.

3. Barbara Eden

In addition to her film and TV roles, the I Dream of Jeannie star is also a talented singer. Not only has she appeared in a number of musicals (including The Sound of Music and Annie Get Your Gun), but Eden, now 86, also released an album titled Miss Barbara Eden in 1967

4. Burt Reynolds

Fresh from his success in the classic TV western Gunsmoke and breakout film role in Deliverance, Reynolds, now 82, released his debut album Ask Me What I Am in 1973. Ten years later, he sang and starred alongside Dolly Parton in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.

5. Lynda Carter

At the height of Wonder Woman’s popularity in 1978, Carter released the album Portrait, two songs from which appeared on the show, performed by her character Diana Prince. Carter, 66, went on to release two more albums and an EP of songs for the video game Fallout 4.
