Famous Hollywood couple are actually relatives
One of Hollywood’s most enduring couples have revealed to be related.
Kevin Bacon and wife Kyra Sedgwick are actually distant cousins, and in her latest interview, Kyra says the few degrees of separation does not bother her.
The 51-year-old actress was asked about an episode of Finding Your Roots – in which she and 59-year-old Kevin were revealed to be related – over the weekend.
"I figured I was going to be related to Kevin Bacon — I mean, most white people are related, ultimately," she said during the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour.
"I wasn’t surprised, honestly," she added.
"Frankly, I figured that was part the reason that they wanted to do both of us. I had to act surprised."
In 2013, the couple appeared on the PBS show “Finding Your Roots”, which uses genealogical research and genetics to discover the family history of well-known Americans.
In the episode, presenter Henry Louis Gates Jr showed Kyra a photo of her ninth cousin once removed, telling her, "And his name is Kevin Bacon".
"See. I knew it! I knew it! I knew it! I knew it! I knew it!," Kyra responded at the time.
Kevin and Kyra wed in 1988 and have two adult children, Sosie and Travis.
