Lisa Wilkinson portrait wins Archibald Packing Room prize
A portrait of Lisa Wilkinson by artist Peter Smeeth has won the annual “Packing Room Prize” in the 2017 Archibald Prize.
The painting depicts the Today Show host reclining on a sofa, with husband Peter FitzSimons and their children Jake, Billie and Louis in the background, reflected on a TV screen.
The winning entry was chosen by retiring chief gallery packer Steve Peters who has awarded it every year since 1991.
The Packing Room Prize is worth $1500 and selected from the 822 entries to the $100,000 Archibald Prize.
Smeeth joins 42 other finalists for the Archibald which will be announced on Friday, July 28.
